HDR Video Tone Mapping

Recent subjective studies in the video processing research showed that current tone mapping operators either produce disturbing temporal artifacts, or are limited in their local contrast reproduction capability. We address both of these issues and present an HDR video tone mapping operator that can greatly reduce the input dynamic range, while at the same time preserving details without causing significant visual artifacts. Automatic Multiview Synthesis

We present an ASIC/FPGA based hardware prototype which is able to convert stereoscopic 3D video into content appropriate for multiview autostereoscopic displays in real-time – thereby paving the way towards a completely integrated system on a chip for displays and mobile consumer electronic devices. About

Disney Research is an international network of research labs, with the mission to push the scientific and technological forefront of innovation at The Walt Disney Company.

In 2006, The Walt Disney Company acquired Pixar Animation Studios, a move that brought a host of valuable creative and technology assets, including a strong culture of excellence in research. Pixar is a major generator and publisher of world-class research in computer graphics. Its scientists contribute directly to Pixar’s critically acclaimed films, consistently winning multiple technical Academy Awards®. The Pixar acquisition was a source of inspiration for the formation of Disney Research, and continues to influence the way we’re organized and run.

Disney Research combines the best of academia and industry, by doing both basic and application-driven research. We view publication as a principal mechanism for quality control and encourage engagement with the global research community.

Our research applications are experienced by millions of people. We honor Walt Disney’s legacy by innovating and deploying our innovations on a global scale.
