I am currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Integrated System Laboratory at the ETH Zürich. I am also affiliated with the Berkeley Wireless Research Center in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the UC Berkeley, and collaborating with the UC Berkeley’s Redwood Center for Theoretical Neuroscience. My research interests include embedded systems, brain-inspired computing, algorithm–device co-design, approximation opportunities in computation, communication, sensing, and storage with an emphasis on improving energy efficiency and robustness.
My doctoral research has focused on understanding the effects of microelectronic variability at various layers in the system abstraction by exposing hardware variations to software, and by developing methods to ensure continued and efficient operation. My dissertation has been selected to receive the 2015 Outstanding Dissertation Award in the area of "New Directions in Embedded System Design and Embedded Software" from the European Design and Automation Association (EDAA). I am also recipient of the Best Paper at the IEEE BioCAS (2018), the EAI/ACM BICT (2017) and the Best Paper Candidate at the 50th IEEE/ACM DAC (2013).
I received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science and engineering from the University of California, San Diego in September 2015; and the B.S. degree in computer engineering from the University of Tehran, in March 2010.
